Production Update
5/20/2025
Hello everyone! It's time for a production update on Finding Home: A Chiss Ascendancy Zine!
The Zine: The zine itself is ALMOST ready to order our sample for quality control. It's laid out (we're using InDesign), all text has been checked and edited for consistency in formatting across the project, and all final art pieces are in and assigned their places. The last thing we are currently waiting on are page templates for the text pages, but those should be done soon!
Once we order the sample and are happy with how the zine looks in said sample, full production will be ordered.
The Merch: Digital merch is all complete and some of the physical merch has been ordered (and even delivered!). Bookmarks are in as are the "Visit Csilla" postcards as well as some of the 4x6 prints.
The 'Making of' PDF: Is in it's final stages. All participating artists have had their designs submitted and laid out. Participating authors have submitted their pieces and will be added to the PDF this week.
Once we have the zine sample in-hand (and approved by the mods), we'll come back with a solid update on dates, but that shouldn't be too much longer. STAY TUNED!!

Midnight Mission
Founded in 1914, Midnight Mission is the longest-running human services organization in the Los Angeles area. They offer not only food and shelter to the homeless population, but also women's crisis care and family programs such as: career preparedness, child development, and education.
Midnight Mission fully encapsulates our Zine theme: Finding Home, and is also a charity supported dearly by the late Carrie Fisher ❤️
About The Zine
This zine will focus on celebrating cast of Timothy Zahn's Chiss Ascendancy Novels by emphasizing the themes of finding home and found family among the chiss characters we all know and love. After all sales have been finalized, the proceeds of this zine will be donated to a yet to be determined charity.
For those uncertain of what a zine is:
A zine (shortened from magazine) is a collaborative collection of UNOFFICIAL* various pieces of art and writing in one book/booklet. The history of zines is extensive and all encompassing (like internet fandoms in general). It is safe to say that they celebrate something their fandom loves, whether it be a specific ship or a general ode to canon. Depending on the nature of the zine, it is usually put up for sale and all proceeds are donated to a selected charity.
But, My Lord. Is that … legal?
Yep! The biggest point here is that no one involved is going to be making a cent of profit from the sale of this zine. Sales will go first toward paying for the publication of the zine and merch, and any remainder will be donated to charity. Every mod and contributor is an unpaid volunteer, and all content is being created or provided free of charge by the contributors.
*We are not (nor do we ever intend to imply that we are) associated with Disney or Lucasfilm in any way.
